Shalini has a Master's in Bharatanatyam from the Bharathidasan University, Trichy. An architect by profession, She is a visiting professor at the M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology and also heads the dance forum at Padmavathi Kalanikethan, Bangalore.
She has been teaching from the past 25 years and is renowned for her choreography.
